Ring in 2020 in style this year! We’re kicking off a brand new decade, which means there are going to be plenty of parties and celebrations for families and adults alike. Here are some of the most popular ways to ring in 2020 in Hendersonville and Asheville this year.

3rd Annual New Year’s Eve Apple Rise

Hendersonville’s classic celebration, the New Year’s Eve Apple Rise is happening again this year at the Historic Courthouse in downtown Hendersonville! Choose from two different celebrations — a family celebration at 6 pm on New Year’s Eve to count down to the London’s official New Year at 7 pm, and the official Apple Rise ceremony starting at 11 pm.

This year promises to be the best one yet, with a DJ playing top hits from 2019, while volunteers hand out noisemakers, glow sticks, and hot beverages. If that wasn’t enough, there will also be warming stations, and plenty of activities to keep you warm, too, like cornhole and giant Jenga. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate in downtown Hendersonville, you can’t miss the Apple Rise.

Head into Asheville!

If you’re looking to do something special this year to ring in a new decade, why not head into Asheville? Just a short drive away, Asheville has a complete selection of New Year’s Eve celebrations ranging from casual to formal to family-friendly. Here are a few of our top picks for New Year’s Eve 2020.

Biltmore’s Gala at the Inn

The Biltmore is taking the New Year seriously with an exceptionally lavish New Year’s Eve Celebration Package. Stay at the Biltmore in style — this package includes VIP party receptions, an elegant five-course dinner complete with wine pairings, an open bar, a sparkling toast at midnight, live entertainment, and of course beautiful fireworks. The package also includes full admission to the Biltmore Estate and House, with access to the brand new Downton Abbey exhibit. Roaring Twenties at Grove Arcade

Ring in 2020 with a bit of prohibition-era class at Asheville’s historic Grove Arcade. The beautifully preserve building, built nearly a century ago in the 1920s, is hosting a speakeasy-style New Year’s Eve soiree complete with a prohibition-themed cocktail menu, flappers serving hors d’oeuvres, and a 1920’s photo booth! Featuring jazz music by Red Echo Lab and Justice Mann of Shabidukah, this is a can’t miss New Year’s Eve event in downtown Asheville, and certainly a fun, unique way to ring in the new year. Winter Lights at the NC Arboretum

If you’re looking for more of an outdoor, family-friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration, the Winter Lights at the NC Arboretum is a can’t-miss event. The immaculately groomed gardens are covered in more than half-a-million holiday lights sure to delight kids of all ages. In addition to the brilliant spectacles, Winter Lights includes a number of interactive games, a model train exhibit, free crafts, a nature-themed animatronic children’s program, and so much more. Best of all, as the Arboretum’s biggest fund-raising event, the proceeds from Winter Lights go to support year-round educational programs and exhibits, so it’s a New Year’s Eve event you can feel good about attending.

Head on Downtown

While Asheville doesn’t have a specific downtown gathering like Hendersonville, many of the town’s restaurants, bars, and wineries are hosting parties and special events for the holiday. If you don’t have specific plans, but just want to celebrate, wander downtown to see what’s happening! While you’ll want to make reservations for dinner, there are plenty of opportunities to grab a drink and some holiday cheer nearly anywhere from Biltmore Village to Downtown Asheville itself.
